VinoCell - wine cellar manager App Reviews

I decided I needed to better manage our 300 bottle cellar and did some research on the apps available. There are a few options out there, some free, some as much as $40. I zeroed in on this one and am extremely happy I did. You can get a handle on what exactly you have and where it is. I had some questions *after* I bought it and got in touch with the developer. They were super responsive. Great app.

Well, that was a waste of $14.99 and an afternoon. Like another reviewer, I purchased this based on a website review claiming this is the best wine cellar management app. Not so. It isnt intuitive and the database is very limited. Of the first five or so wines I entered, it only came up with one. If it isnt in the database, you have to manually enter all the information - who wants to do that for lots of bottles? Save yourself the money and get Cellar Tracker and Corkz, like I did. Not ideal apps, but certainly a lot easier to use.

Love this app! I show it to the people working in the tasting rooms and they all want to know what it is so they can use it too!

I just purchased this app and it is awful, do not buy it! I searched for some somewhat common wines from CA to input from my collection (Far Niente, Chalk Hill) and they had no information on either of the wines. Any one who is collecting is not going to be inputting wines they buy at the grocery store. Do not buy his app! There are free apps that have more info, do not make you input everything and are more user friendly I just wasted my $ and am really upset!!!

Complete. Works well. Some things like "pairings" are not really useful, but overall its very interesting. One downside, at least in my case, was that I couldnt connect from other devices, I mean, I could but the database comes empty. Worth a try, anyhow

I gave up after attempting to input three bottles. The search engine is terrible. Completely irrelevant ordering of results. Terrible, terrible, awful app.

Placing bottles into racks is a great idea but it has to work smoothly. Disaster in iphone. Does not respond well to clicks. Giving up!!!

I have used a number of wine trackers over the years. Mostly PC based. Vino app is easy to use and very flexible. Utilizing my tablets and smart phones is the way to go and Vinoapp is leading the way and a great bargain for what you get. It is well thought out and has many options that support my 166 bottle wine fridge. Looking forward to using over the years. Would love to see bar coding linked into the search database somehow.

This is a great way to keep track of my cellar, with room for notes, cellar map, photos, reviews, and more. Update: The more I use this, the more I like it. The ability to create a PDF for each wine provides a great tool for tastings. The sort and search abilities are also powerful and useful. This app is awesome for me.

~5 hrs. of work with iPad and on website reading and with videos setting up cellars and adding first wine with no hint yet of anything working together as advertised.

My favorite changes in this version - more details, yet a better readability in list mode & the much anticipated automated sync (albeit behind a toggle with a default "off") - make this already indispensable tool an even better one. Despite its many quirks & oddities, this remains *the only app* - whether on the iPhone, desktop or online - that has the visual rack & shelf module that I require. I have a wine fridge with bottles placed both front & back of each shelf and without the visual diagram that the app has it would be a hassle to chase each bottle. The support team is incredibly responsive and very receptive to any feature requests. Keep up the good work!

The app doesnt do a lot beyond store what you enter. As far as I can tell, no use of the camera to scan a upc or any attempt to fill in details based on the upc, even though theres a field for it. This is basic functionality thats been in the free web-based applications for years. I probably wont enter any wines since the app doesnt do anything.

Great app! Have used multiple wine apps and this is a very good one to manage a cellar. The pictorial representation is fabulous. Would love to see the ability to enter a wine via UPC or photo in the future.

It has more than youll ever need for keeping track of your wine. Mostly intuitive, and easy to learn. There should be a way to set defaults for currency, etc. Syncing between devices is great and free! Perfect for calling up your favorite bottles while at the wine store.

We buy wines about four times a year. Its handy while we are at the vineyards. I can see what weve got and not end up with a fridge full of the same varietal. Showing a wine as "drunk" is easy enough. But, EVERY time I try to add wines to my wine fridge/cellar, the app has changed. Every time there are new instructions. Right now it says it is "placing" a bottle. How? Its just flashing. I might be looking for an easier system. This one is very, very frustrating.

This is an excellent app for the money. I have logged my entire collection and sync the database between my iPhone and iPad. The app can sometimes be a little clunky to use and it is not entirely intuitive but once you get the hang of it its worth the effort. There are so many options to tailor the app to your method of cataloging and I especially like the ability to use different scales for rating the wines. If youre on the fence just pull the trigger and buy this app.

More feature than I currently leverage which means I can grow into it

Been using for a year and it works great. I cant live without it now.

Before this app, I used to wander around my cellar pulling out bottle after bottle to remind myself what I have and what I might actually want to have tonight. Now I search in the app for the variety I might like, check out the vintages and producers I have in storage, select, and then see just where that particular bottle is and pull it out directly. I suppose I could live without this app, but Id never chose to. Entering new, unique bottles take a little time, but the "duplicate" feature makes entering new vintages of same or similar wines very easy and quick. Both of us have the app on our devices, so the "sync" feature is critical to having our inventories be up to date regardless of who pulled what bottle when. We manage over 1000 bottles of wine with ease with this app. We love it.
